We ate lunch at the Bora Bora restaurant next to the sand, got thrashed by the powerful waves crashing close to the shore, then tried to rinse off in the outdoor shower by the pool. I had so much sand in my hair (I think I still have sand in my hair) and in my bathing suit (I know I still have sand in my bathing suit) that I used gallons of water trying to rinse off. I glopped sand all over the pristine pool deck area. Maggie and I had the backyard to ourselves, so in addition to trying to shower off from the beach, we rinsed our towels and shoes as they were also coated in sand. I commented on how our host and the maids must think we were behaving like homeless people, washing our clothing in the outdoor shower. We both started laughing hysterically. Then Maggie stuck her ipad in the refrigerator to cool it down. What a pair we made!
After a delicious nap on the couch by the pool, we asked Franco for directions to the closest restaurant. He offered to drive us around to tour the town, showed us all the nightclubs and the streetside vendor who serves the best Acaraje da Cira, a fried shrimp concoction that draws travelers from across Brazil and beyond. He dropped us off at KI-MUKEKA for dinner, a fantastic pricy restaurant up the road. We could hear the waves crashing on the beach from our table. We shared a delicious breaded shrimp in cheese and tomato sauce that arrived in a casserole-sized dish. We hauled away a doggy bag for another dinner and walked back to our place through the dark, empty neighborhood.
